Volume Two of Demon’s Quest: The Beginning of the End by Charles Carfagno Jr. picks up where the first book leaves off with Jacko and his new friends rescuing the women from the besieged town. Jacko and his friends recruit some help to return and rescue the rest of the town held captive by the evil forces of the Red Knight. Meanwhile, while on his way to Mirken, Tohran gets lost in a forest until he is detained by Lord Sim, who reads his note, and then helps him regain his memory. From there the story goes back and forth between Jacko’s and Tohran’s adventures. The cast of characters that get involved with our two heroes grows as fast as the body count. As they are manipulated from quest to quest, revelations about the leaders of the towns begin to unfold. Everybody wants something, and a little leverage goes a long way, especially when demons are involved.

Once again Mr. Carfagno does a superb job of describing the fast paced action, with all of the twists in the plots that keep readers on the edge of their seats. His characters’ personalities, flaws, and strengths are real. From demon lords who call our plane of existence the 'other,' to boisterous serving wenches, to the simple shop keeper selling supplies. The author's writing style is detailed, imaginative, and powerful. Even when things get bleak, and the timing is right, he lets his characters reveal their sense of humor. Volume two of Demon’s Quest; The Beginning of the End is a must-read for fantasy lovers, as well as D&D enthusiasts. I am left hanging for the next installment to be dangled in front of me. Brava!

A Demon’s Quest: The Beginning Of The End (Volume 2) by Charles Carfagno Jr. picks up where the story left off in Volume 1. New characters and creatures are introduced, adding more depth to the story and its world-building. After rescuing a group of women from Redden and taking them to safety, Jacko and his friends plan to rescue the remaining prisoners from the invaded town. Konafar requests aid from his Order, including a group of Lizardman warriors that I find impressive.

However, the rescue mission is appallingly perilous, and some of Jacko’s newly-met allies perish too soon. I feel sorry for Runit, a member of the Order, who becomes another pawn of the Lord of Mind. Is the Red Knight going to regain his memories? Will Jacko survive and continue his journey to Mirkin? Will he be able to meet Torhan again? Readers who have read the prequel will be eager to find out. Torhan is not having a smooth journey either and struggling to fulfill his oath to Grappin. His encounter with Lord Sim and his wolf-like men reveals the truth about Grappin and the task that he gave to Torhan.

Great characters, detailed writing, and lots of action makes The Beginning Of The End an excellent sequel for this series from Carfagno Jr. The detailed adrenaline-pumping fight scenes and suspense in Volume 1 continue to entertain readers in Volume 2. The development in characterization and plot are evident and well-written. The adventure will continue in Volume 3, and I look forward to it.

Whoa! That is exactly what I thought as I finished reading A Demon's Quest: The Beginning of the End, Volume 2 by author Charles Cafagno, Jr. This book is exciting from the beginning and filled with action-packed fight scenes that will have your heart in your throat! Picking up right where the first book in the series left off, you'll find yourself back in the world of Torhan and Jacko, as well as most of the other characters you grew to know, and either love or hate, in Volume One, as they continue on their adventuresome journeys. Torhan and Jacko are trying to reunite, but their paths are not easy, and their struggles along the way are certainly not without danger, excitement, and possible death.

I so enjoyed this book. Author Charles Cafagno, Jr. writes with an engaging, exciting style that will keep the reader turning the pages. I finished this book in a weekend, I simply could not put it down once I started it. He is truly a master at world creation in the fantasy genre, and some of the his character creations, like the Lizardmen, were wonderfully unique. I so enjoyed some of the scene setting as well, for example, the time spent in Bontinhammer's Unusual Items Shop was some of my favorite in terms of description and was simply a fun stop on the journey through the book. A Demon's Quest: The Beginning of the End, Volume 2 would be enjoyed by any reader who enjoys fantasy, action, adventure, or simply a great read. I recommend this book very highly, and am very much looking forward to digging into Volume 3 as soon as possible!
