A Leap in Time, The Travelers Series by Engy Albasel Neville takes place in today’s Los Angles and jumps back in time to Pompeii in 59 AD. Lexi is shopping in an antiques store and is drawn to a painting that she immediately buys and rushes home to hang on her living room wall. She is awoken near dawn by galloping horses and strange people talking. Her picture appears to be changing and, as she touches it, she is pulled in and finds herself in Pompeii. As she walks around she meets a young woman named Catina who graciously invites her to an upcoming party. Lexi is intrigued, scared and surprised but accepts the invitation. At the party, she meets Marcus and it is love at first sight. Marcus is handsome, smart, funny and wonderful, but she knows that she must leave him and return to the present. Upon her arrival home, she begins to plan how to return to Marcus. When she shares this unbelievable story with her best friends, they work out a plan where Lexi can go through the picture on the weekends and spend time with Marcus and return in time for work on Monday morning. Will this plan work out for both of them?
A Leap in Time, The Travelers Series is a beautifully written love story. It is also both historically correct and romantically perfect. Engy Neville is a wonderful storyteller with just the right amount of reality and fantasy blended into this tale. A Leap in Time makes time travel seem real because the characters are so very appropriate in both the past and the present. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the Travelers Series.
