In A Life Redeemed by J.R. Pitts, Lamont Pinkney is different. He has one foot that drags as he walks and this flaw is a source of ridicule and shame for him. He is the poor son of a sharecropper with no real hopes of a brighter future. When his father dies, his Uncle Jack moves Lamont and his family to a small farm where his mother eventually remarries. Lamont is continually tormented because of his handicap, and his only friend, George Young, gives in to his own popularity and becomes Lamont's biggest tormentor. The small seeds of faith planted in Lamont are growing and taking root. An evangelist prays for Lamont's healing, but he returns home still dragging his foot. He and his stepfather draw closer and Lamont's confidence begins to grow. On a hunting trip, he witnesses something amazing and life changing. As his faith grows even stronger, everything begins to change. When Lamont achieves acceptance and a position that he has long desired, he will risk it all to help his one-time friend, George.
A Life Redeemed is a touching story about Lamont Pinkney, a boy with a handicap. A boy that is ridiculed and tormented all of his young life without mercy. As Lamont grows in his faith, he finds a way to overcome the hurt. J.R. Pitts shows us through his well thought out characters and plot that God is always involved in our lives. We may not get what we want, when we want it, but the author reminds us that God has a plan, a purpose, and His own timing for everything that happens. This humbling story shows us that patience, perseverance and believing are the keys to success, no matter what your limitation or handicap.
