A Life Without You by Rose Roberts is a well-written book that emphasizes the importance of love, commitment, and appreciating what you have in the moment. The story begins with Claire, a thirty-two-year-old woman, having a session with her therapist, Nadine. Claire is married to Chris, a man she loves very much. However, after running into her high school crush in a library, Claire begins to fantasize about what her life would have been like if she'd had a relationship with Rob back in high school. Claire goes to bed one day and finds herself back in 2010, when she is sixteen years old in high school. She quickly realizes that her reality is better than anything she had fantasized about, as she is now willing to communicate her love language to Chris more effectively.
There were so many things about this book that stood out to me. Firstly, I commend Rose for the detailed descriptions of events in the story. Also, the characters were well-developed, which made the story more relatable. I loved how the author handled the flashbacks and plot twists such that readers don’t get confused while reading. I learned about the various love languages, the value of appreciating the life I have now, and the importance of communication in marriage. The writing is concise, well-paced, organized, and easy to comprehend. It featured themes on romance, love, commitment, therapy, and more. I recommend A Life Without You by Rose Roberts to all readers who enjoy romance stories.
