A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance is a holiday-themed contemporary romance novel written by Vivien Mayfair. Lane Sharp had found a safe space for herself and her little family at Snowdrop Valley’s Literary Arts College. Now with autumn in full foliage, apple recipes competed with ideas for her current project of designing a class on the grotesque in Gothic literature. Both threads coursed through her mind as she waited for her meeting with Madge Watkins, the college’s administrator. As Madge outlined her expectations for the newly created event, Lane’s head spun. A Halloween contest? Really? Then Madge dropped the bomb, the worst thing Lane could anticipate -- Madge was adamant about adding horror to the Gothic department’s offerings to increase student interest. Pushing Lane’s expected protests aside, Madge told her to expect a call from a freelance literary horror historian, an expert consultant with whom Madge expected Lane to work nicely. Miles Hall also had planned events in the past, so he seemed the perfect professional partner for her for this event.
A Sleepy Hollow Kiss will have most readers counting the days until the next fall season. As I read this perceptive and engaging novel, my mouth watered as I read of Lane’s baking plans, and I could smell the sweet scent of the autumnal harvest season. Lane and Miles couldn’t be more different or have started their working partnership off in a worse way, and watching as the sparks fly is fun. One can’t help but wonder as the two brilliant and diametrically opposed forces try to find common ground. Mayfair’s characters are authentic and well-defined, and her plot is lively and unpredictable. A Sleepy Hollow Kiss: A Sweet and Spooky Halloween Romance is most highly recommended.
