Love is defined by its pure, hot, insatiable passion. The love that carries you across oceans and mountains in your beloved's arms. However, when a relationship is betrayed, this magical feeling can quickly become intense emotional pain and even heartbreak. But what truly motivates someone to betray you while still claiming to love you? Why would they choose to have short-term sexual pleasure with someone else while betraying their long-term love for you? A Suite Invitation: Never Say Never by J. E. Morgan addresses this profound concern in a lovely collection of short stories crafted with original imagination and enticing romance. Morgan's settings include a dash of humor, reinforced with unexpected plot twists that keep you reading from beginning to end.
My favorite tale in the book was "Closure." This story introduces us to a man who falls in love with a beautiful woman named Brook-Lynn. She has had many lovers before, and her relationships don't last long. In just a short time after starting a relationship with the protagonist, she falls into the arms of another man, leaving the protagonist desperate, broken, and lonely. However, through a friend and his relationship with God, he accepts that Brook is gone and never coming back. This narrative painted a beautiful picture of the pain of breaking up with a person you dearly love. I found J. E. Morgan's characterization remarkable, as each character excellently fulfilled their roles and foregrounded his ideas. Morgan vividly and realistically portrayed all the personalities in the book. This helped me relate to their experiences and thoughts and enabled me to empathize with their emotional vulnerability. The scenes in the stories are graphically created. This aspect helped me create mental pictures that transported me to a fantasy world I did not want to leave. The plots were excellently concluded in suspense. Each cathartic element kept me yearning for more; an excellent way to end the stories.
