Abbey’s Hope Family is written by Lisette Varela and illustrated by Blueberry Illustrations. This is an excellent book for children facing obstacles in life. The book conveys a very optimistic message to parents, teachers, and children that if you need help you will always find the right people to assist you, especially in the journey you take in life. Lisette Varela has written from her heart to show all children that no matter what difficulty they face, there is always someone out there who is willing and able to help them achieve their goals in life. The title Abbey's Hope Family portrays how the author views the wonderful people who help children.
The characters in this book that help Abigail through life are her parents, the physical therapist, the speech therapist, the occupational therapist, Ms Santana, Cecille, Nicky, Lila, Mateo, Sophie, and George. They are all important in their own unique way in helping Abigail achieve her goals and independence through her journey in life. Abbey’s Hope Family is an easy-to-read book with beautiful drawings that demonstrate each step in the progress Abigail achieves. The images will encourage children, who may be struggling with learning difficulties or other problems in their lives, not to give up. The images and story show that there is always someone out there who can help you. Young readers must just have faith and courage and they will find help. "Never give up hope," is the main message in this uplifting book. This is a lovely, simple story of encouragement. I enjoyed it very much.
