If readers can wrap their minds around the fact that Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President, and one of the greatest political figures of all time, killed vampires on the side, then they are going to absolutely love this horror/history.
The book starts out innocently enough with the author telling us about his small town life in New York, working in a small store. Life had gotten in his way and he abandoned his writing. One of the customers, Henry, brings him a package that contains 10 journals, the missing journals of Abraham Lincoln. What these journals reveal is that Abraham Lincoln made a vow, at the age of nine, to become a vampire hunter and kill every vampire that he could find, due to the fact that his mother was murdered by a vampire. This book goes into great detail about how Abe killed numerous vampires throughout his life. This book follows Mr. Lincoln from the age of 9 until his assassination; each step of the way vampires are right there.
The author does an amazing job weaving facts into this fictionalized story. One of the things I really found enjoyable was that the author uses footnotes peppered throughout this story to give us factual information about Mr. Lincoln's life.
I would have to say that this is one of the best vampire stories that I have ever read.
