It's like taking an adventure without having to leave home.

As an aspiring world traveler, I found this book refreshing. Reading the authors' accounts of traveling all over Africa was like being there. Even though some things have changed in some o the locations, like the Ivory Coast, the authors' accounts were refreshing. I found some spots from this book that are now on my bucket list of places to visit. It's like taking an adventure without having to leave home.

I think travel to Africa is on everyone's bucket list. It seems so far away and mysterious. The author brings you right there, and not in a Trip Advisor way, but in a real life way. When I travel, I like to immerse myself in the local culture and avoid the tourist spots.

This book fits my needs completely. It brings a completely authentic feel and vision about so many countries from her birthplace in Senegal all the way up to Egypt. If you want to start researching Africa or simply want to learn more, this book is for you.

This shows a side of Africa I never read much about. The real life adventures of a brave young woman as she travels through several countries. Her experiences with flying planes (and related mishaps!) was great to experience through her words and pictures. It's a unique publication, written in a very personal style. A great way to start learning about travel in Africa.

Ndeye is pure passion! She takes you beyond your imagination with her images and words. The pictures take you there and really get you feeling the moment she was in. As an x-flight attendant and someone who has travelled all over the world and seen many places it was really great to see someone that shares their experiences so authentically and realistically. This book is a must read for anyone who has traveled, wants to travel or just wants to expand their cultural and ethnic knowledge!

A Mesmerizing Adventure

Ndeye Labadens takes us on a beautiful adventure through Africa. I felt like I was there experiencing the landscape and the culture for myself. I dream of visiting Africa in person someday and after reading this book even more so! Until I can make that happen, African Memories satisfies that itch.

An absolute all-rounder. Very pleased to read African Memories and used my imagination a lot to navigate through as the narration went on. As someone who has only lived in just one of the many countries (Nigeria) detailed herein, I must say, I have learned much more about the other countries mentioned. The different cities and towns, the cultural differences, the food and the way they were presented gave me much of what I would expect when I go visiting. African Memories will help those like me that have not traversed these countries before to have the basics of what to expect. It also gives information about the resources available on arrival, interesting places to visit and locations of relaxation to wind down when necessary. I will recommend this book as a leisure guide when visiting any of the countries highlighted within this book - put it along in your bag pack and download on your mobile devices as well...very helpful.
