After a hard time processing loss and change, Chance Cormac, an attorney and author, was now volunteering with the Immigrant Defense Project, filing habeas petitions for immigrants detained by ICE. The more Cormac fights for her release, the more dangerous and harder the case gets. But that’s not all. In New York, Cormac’s friends, criminal defense attorney Frank Fogarty and his legal assistant, Wendell Holmes, are also about to be thrust onto a perilous path. If you are looking for a legal thriller flavored with crime, action, high-stakes drama, and suspense, Against All Odds by Richard A. Danzig is a must-read. Using gritty prose, vivid imagery, and an exciting cast, Danzig gives readers a glimpse into the harsh realities of the current American immigration rows, battling cancer, cybercrime, and the dangers teenage girls face; from the courtroom drama to the prison setups, family moments, attorney-client interviews, and street shootouts. Despite the heavy themes, Danzig offers lively, dynamic conversations edged with witty, introspective commentary, pop culture references, cynicism, and sarcasm. I loved this heart-pounding thriller. I’m eager to read more books in the Chance Cormac Legal Thriller series.
