Alaska Bloodlust by J. L. Askew is a gripping thriller that follows private investigator Race Warren as he faces a vengeful enemy from his past. After barely surviving a brutal case in Alaska, Warren returns to Tennessee, hoping to leave the horrors behind. But when bodies start piling up, he realizes the psychotic cult leader he defeated has followed him home. With a new love interest caught in the crosshairs, Warren is forced to return to the frozen wastelands of Alaska for a final, bloody confrontation. This fast-paced novel is packed with action, suspense, and a relentless battle for survival.

Author J. L. Askew has a way of writing that just pulls you in with charm and confidence right from the off, and the sharp, punchy prose keeps the tension high from start to finish in a really enjoyable thriller. The shifts between different settings in wildly different parts of North America create interesting contrasts for the mood, and the icy Alaskan setting is especially atmospheric and chilling as a backdrop to the suspense and gory scenes later on. This enhances the central cat-and-mouse dynamic as the psychotic pursuer closes in, offering many gripping, edge-of-your-seat moments as you sit with your heart in your throat, wondering if Race will survive or not. It's easy to become attached to such a capable hero when we see his fight become even more personal and compelling as people he has deeper feelings for are dragged in. Overall, Alaska Bloodlust is a thriller that has absolutely everything you could want from an intriguing and immersive action mystery, and I would certainly recommend it.

In Alaska Bloodlust by J. L. Askew, private investigator Race Warren returns from a case in Alaska. Race saved the life of Ron Billings, currently in a coma in a hospital in Memphis. But he realized that the case was not yet finished when someone attempted to kill Ron in the hospital. There was also an attack on Kate Hartley, an anthropologist. Race suspected that the murder attempts were linked to an Inuit tribal shaman seeking retribution for Race's actions in Alaska. Race decides to return to Alaska to track down and stop the killer, who is a deranged cult leader. Before heading back to Alaska, Race met Renae, which drew the killer's attention to her. The situation became more complicated when Renae was abducted by the Inuit tribal shaman. Race needs to locate Renae and the murderer before anything terrible happens to her.

Alaska Bloodlust by J. L. Askew was captivating and complex. The story was fast-paced, with action starting at the beginning and never letting up. The writing style drew me in, immersing me in Race's dangerous world. I found myself on Race’s treacherous journey as he searched for the murderer, feeling the urgency to reach him before he could harm Renae. The tension kept me on the edge of my seat, flipping the pages as quickly as possible. The characters felt realistic, and I could truly see the evil of the shaman. Race was willing to do whatever was necessary to find Renae and ensure her safety. The story has all the components to make it a giant success, and it made a lasting impression on me.
