Angela Odusanya’s Amelia’s Loose Part Art: A Night at the Campsite continues the Amelia series with a story that invites young readers to see play, nature, and imagination with fresh eyes. As the third book, this installment feels comfortably familiar while introducing a new setting that expands Amelia’s world even further. The story opens with Amelia heading out on a camping trip, excited and with clear instructions from her parents: no loose parts are coming home. Amelia is unbothered, confident that the campsite playground will provide all the fun she needs. When she arrives to discover the playground is gone, the trip takes an unexpected turn. What follows is not frustration, but curiosity, as Amelia begins to notice her surroundings in a new way. The natural elements of the campsite slowly reveal themselves as opportunities for creative play.

Angela Odusanya uses simple language that suits its picture-book audience without talking down to them. The pacing lets children follow Amelia’s emotional shift from disappointment to discovery, making the story easy to share aloud. The text aligns with the book’s message, reinforcing the idea that materials for art and play can be found anywhere, in forms both big and small. The illustrations by Dileema Medonza complement the narrative by highlighting the textures and shapes of the campsite environment. The artwork supports the story’s focus on observation and creativity, helping readers understand that loose part art does not require special tools, only attention and curiosity. A Night at the Campsite is especially suited for children who enjoy outdoor play, hands-on activities, and stories that spark imagination.
