Alvin wants to sell the anthill where he and his wife have been staying. Their kids have grown and moved away and he feels the place is too big for them and it is old. He grabs a red pen and a piece of paper and writes 'ANTHILL FOR SALE' in big letters. Miss Curtsy the Centipede sees it and she decides to move in. Though she finds the place perfect, she doesn't think there is enough place to keep her shoes. Miss Ladybug finds their yard nice and wants to paint some blue and purple dots here and there. Alvin does not agree to it. A stink bug smelling bad tries to copy their building plan. The prospective buyers who are interested want to make changes and Alvin is not too happy about it. Will Alvin be able to sell his home and who buys it finally?

Anthill for Sale by Johnny Ray Moore is a delightful story that captures the charm and beauty of home and reiterates the words 'home is where your heart belongs.' When he is about to sell the place to Ms. Willa Mae Wasp, Alvin reminisces about the good times his kids had in that house, and he realizes the memories associated with the house were more precious than gold. The illustrations are as adorable as the concept and they give a good pace and movement to the story. It is a good storybook to use for read aloud and storytelling sessions in classrooms and school libraries, and children will be able to relate to Alvin's feelings. Parents and grandparents can use it for bedtime storytelling to help their kids and grandkids understand the essence of home.
