Author Biography

Felecia realized her love of writing early in elementary school when she began writing, editing, and publishing the Clarke Family Chronicles reporting weekly family news of her family of four … to her family of four. After obtaining a BA in Mass Communication from the University of Denver and an MBA from the University of Phoenix, she spent years working in Human Resources management and writing professionally - marketing pieces, newsletters, annual business reports, and employee handbooks. Now she has returned to her true love, creative writing.

I got the idea to write this book when I was in a deep prayer session and started journaling my thought. I wrote, “You will write books that will bring people to Jesus.” I chewed on that for several years before I began to outline the story. So many people are afraid they’re not “good enough” for God or worried that they have to “get cleaned up” before they come to Him. He wants you just as you are. It took me too long to figure that out.

Are You Ready? The Story of a Runaway Girl and a Persistent God by Felecia Clarke is a coming of age memoir that chronicles the author's journey with God. As a Christian, Felecia never believed that following God required some form of disciplined. She enjoyed her life, so she thought, living on her own terms. The experience of sex and drugs might have been exciting but the thrill was short-lived. Everything changed when she hit rock-bottom and experienced the threat of an imminent health crisis. With no one to turn to, she turned to the God she had often forsaken. In this memoir, she shares her thoughts and the beauty of a deepening relationship with God.

This book is a powerful testimony of God's unconditional love, written with a rare sense of humor and honesty. Felecia chronicles her childhood in a retrospective manner and offers vivid images from her life and the environment in which she grew up. Then she moves on to share her struggles with faith and the ultimate encounter with God who never gave up on her. The writing is filled with insight and uplifting thoughts and, as Felecia shares her story, she also offers lessons on prayer and intimacy with God. I enjoyed how Felecia presents the inner sense of spiritual apathy which pushed her to seek God even more. Are You Ready? The Story of a Runaway Girl and a Persistent God is a clarion call to the reader to open their hearts to God, a book that will, undoubtedly, nourish the little faith of most readers and inspire them to trust in God's inscrutable love.
