Artemesia is a supernatural mystery thriller by D.C. Mallery. Sage Stevenson had long stopped cutting herself. But when mysterious scars unexpectedly manifest under her skin, she finds herself plagued by painful memories of the past. Meanwhile, Deputy Marq Marchant is eager to improve his reputation as a police officer in front of his superiors. However, the inexplicable numbness in his limbs further damages his standing amongst his peers. While investigating a string of murders, Marq and Sage cross paths against each other, unwittingly embroiling themselves in a situation involving an ancient Indian cult from the nineteenth century. But they have to be wary as the further they dig into the case, the more they put their lives in danger. Do Marq's and Sage's pasts contain the answers to the strange killings?

A mind-bending supernatural mystery full of suspense, intrigue, and plenty of thrills, Artemesia is a page-turner of a novel. Author D.C. Mallery keeps pulling the rug from under your feet with tantalizing reveals and unpredictable twists and turns that you never see coming. The plot is dark and deliciously twisted, filled with riveting characters who have multiple layers to peel away. The narrative runs through two different timelines, each revealing aspects of the mystery, which come together to unfold like the perfect jigsaw puzzle toward the end. Sage, Marq, Tony, and Artemesia all have distinct personalities and fleshed-out character arcs that make them compelling to read. I was absorbed throughout the novel, and if you like reading supernatural thrillers, you will find yourself too.
