They find their new home surrounded by huge ash trees. There is something scary in the ambiance of the old house. Nightmares haunt Ethan, Caleb hears strange voices, and Lydia sees disturbing images. The house guards terrifying secrets, and Ethan must face his deepest fears to disclose them. Mature fans of horror, mysteries, dramas, and suspense will appreciate Ash Wednesday by Matt Heart.

The author pays tremendous attention to the details of this twisty narrative. Matt teases us with some clues, but we cannot predict the outcome. The author touches our hearts and frightens us with this story at the same time, masterfully entwining family drama with riveting suspense. The author offers an unusual interpretation of the classic elements of horror and crafts such unforgettable characters as little Caleb and old Tobias. The book explores the profound themes of parental love and responsibility toward loved ones. The vivid imagery, like the mysterious ash trees, will spook readers long after finishing this enthralling novel. I hope to see a movie based on this story.
