In Rohini Ranjini Devi Singh’s Awakened by Gabriel, Elena has built a quiet life in a small town after heartbreak. Her days are molded by writing before dawn and familiar coffee, a routine she treats as proof that calm is enough until Gabriel re-enters her life with the love she had trained herself not to expect. Gabriel belongs to a close circle shaped by family loyalty, with John watching Elena as an outsider who may take his place. Gabriel’s mother Ruth learns that Elena has changed him, yet secrecy still surrounds the relationship. Old pain returns after Liam, a man from Elena’s past, appears with blame she never asked to carry. As outside pressure grows, Elena turns to prayer and holds onto the future she wants with Gabriel.
Rohini Ranjini Devi Singh’s Awakened by Gabriel is a lovely romance, and Singh gives Elena the kind of longing that feels huge but reader-friendly. The best part is Elena. I liked how her private life has texture before Gabriel takes over her heart, such as the early morning writing that keeps her company. Singh is just as strong with Gabriel’s family world, like Ruth seeing her son light up at the club before he admits Elena has brought him back to himself. The faith writing is lovely too, such as Elena playing the pastor’s prayer during Gabriel’s silence and choosing to trust God’s timing. Gabriel is a gorgeous romantic lead, protective in a way that suits the book’s dreamy tone, and readers who enjoy faith-based love stories are in for a real treat. Very highly recommended.
