Awakening in the 21st Century: Surviving a Spiritually Dormant Society by Grace Sara is a book that will shock many readers — positively — and it is a marvel to think that a work of such depth is written by a seventeen-year old writer. In the introduction the author states: “This book aims to teach you one of the fundamental spiritual truths: the psychic and the spiritual are one and the same,” and the author kept that promise in a satisfactory manner. Most of us are unaware of the wealth we carry within us, a wealth of energy and resources that can remain forever untapped when we fail to step beyond our comfort zone. Grace Sara offers an irresistible invitation to readers to reach out and connect more intimately with the power of consciousness that is within their reach by practicing awareness and committing to the journey toward spiritual awakening and self-growth. The style is evocative, laced with powerful texts and insightful thoughts that will “wake” readers up, at times brutally.
It is funny that this author reminds me of Anthony de Mello and his classic book, Awareness, in which he states that most people are born asleep and spend their whole life sleeping, and that they also die in their sleep. In Awakening in the 21st Century: Surviving a Spiritually Dormant Society, Grace Sara proposes a path that will awaken readers and fire them up with the desire to make a difference, to live a fulfilling life, and to connect with their psychic powers. I fell in love with the author’s ideas, which are reminiscent of Eastern Spirituality, and the spiritual approach to life that she proposes will take many readers by surprise. This is a book for everyone who is lulled to sleep by the glitz of the world because beneath all we see, there is still much to see. This book will change the way you look at yourself, at life, and at the universe around you.
