"How many more pandemics, how many more 9/11s, genocidal massacres, bombings, and mass shootings will it take for us to begin living by the values of love, generosity, and cooperation rather than fear, greed, and competition?" Awakening the Soul of Power by Christian de la Huerta is a call to everyone to unleash the courageous and powerful hero within. Included in Book 1 of the Calling All Heroes series are several subjects that guide readers to living heroically in their day-to-day lives: overriding the ego’s defensiveness and learning the power of vulnerability, refusing to be stuck in victim consciousness, re-evaluating masculinity and femininity, self-healing, being self-aware, resisting the fear of conflict, and other revealing subjects. Christian de la Huerta also shares his experiences about transitioning from an affluent lifestyle to a minimalist one, coming out as gay, learning from his past mistakes, and more.
In a confident and constructive tone, Christian de la Huerta leads us into a world of truths about human behavior, exposing the flaws and strengths and how it can be improved in all humans. However, readers should beware of a few political and religious views that may differ from theirs. Awakening the Soul of Power felt like looking at a mirror that showed me a detailed reflection of my innermost self and everything that is limiting me from becoming my true, unsoiled self: a force of good that can effect positive change in my small circle. If just thousands of people around the world incorporated the lessons taught in the book, the world would definitely feel the impact. I'm eager to see what the other books in the series have in store.
