In Axiom, a supernatural thriller by Anthony Milton, Julia is a young woman who has recently moved to her father's home in the small town of Cardinal-Wood. With the help of her cousin Zander Thurman, a famous YouTuber, Julia gets a job at the local bar -- The Pit. On her first day at the bar, Zander introduces actress Libby Yolke to The Pit's employees. Libby, a beautiful woman, has an almost ethereal effect on everyone in the bar, including Julia. After Julia returns home, she is plagued by nightmares and later learns that Zander has passed away. Meanwhile, the Axiom Research Agency, which investigates paranormal phenomena, recruits Julia, leading her to discover that Libby is a demon preying on human flaws. Can Julia stop Libby from hurting more of her friends?
Anthony Milton draws upon the genres of sci-fi, horror, and supernatural fiction to deliver a gripping thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Filled with mystery, intrigue, and a healthy dose of the paranormal, Axiom has your attention from the first page to the last. The author keeps the plot moving at an even pace, featuring twists and turns that are bound to take readers by surprise. Julia is one of the more fleshed-out characters, and her development was one of the primary highlights of the book for me. The scenes between Julia, Victor, and Quincy were also interesting, and I especially enjoyed the theories revolving around Axiom and the unseen world. Some of the scenes with horror elements will have you biting your nails. If you're a fan of supernatural thriller/horror, this will be right up your alley!
