Ballast Point Breakdown is the fourth book in the Rolly Waters Mystery by Corey Lynn Fayman. Rolly was performing at a San Diego Bay waterfront venue when a speedboat crashed the party and caused a disaster. The crasher was one Janis Withers who died but not before screaming, “Arion is back.” That incident started Rolly’s journey to begin an investigation of the matter. During the investigation, Rolly finds out that Janis called a man named Butch Fleetwood, Arion. Further investigations reveal that Butch has been missing for two decades now and there is still no trace of him. Before he knows it, one fact after another baffles him a little more. Every clue leads him somewhere else and there is nothing that points in one direction. Every turn reveals a new secret and Rolly needs to bring his A-game if he wants to succeed. Does he have what it takes to solve this case?
Corey Lynn Fayman hyped up the mystery incredibly well. The dialogues left little clues for readers to find and kept the story going at all times. The added humor was a great way to entice me to read on and invest more time in Ballast Point Breakdown. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill mystery; it is complicated, has layers of plot for you to uncover and a mystery to solve along with the protagonist. The author opens the story with action and ends it on a high point, giving readers an adrenaline rush and craving more. I got a thrill from the intense drama and the relentless suspense that never ended. Rolly was given plenty of opportunities to grow and grab the attention of readers. He is a real character; he is human in his flaws and his triumphs, which makes him an easy character to love. I enjoyed this book.
