Banshee by Bibiana Krall revolves around a 1980s band named Synth Siren and the death-defying encounters they endure while pursuing fame. When their drummer succumbs to a drug overdose, the band—which has peaked in its success—is struggling to maintain its momentum. They are given a few months to record another hit album, or they can kiss their reputation and contract goodbye. The band is spontaneously booked to record their new album at an old Scottish castle in the Highlands. Suki, a band member and the main protagonist, immediately gets an eerie feeling about the castle. Gradually, the other band members begin to hear and see things of a terrifying paranormal nature on the castle's grounds. Can they uncover the jarring truth before they also become remnants of the castle's past?

Banshee by Bibiana Krall is an intriguing paranormal thriller that explores themes of love, friendship, grief, and fear. If you are a die-hard 80s fan or enjoy a good horror book now and again, you'll undoubtedly become a new follower of the Winter Ghost series after finishing this spine-tingling tale. The author's vivid descriptions of the castle create a realistic portrayal of the supernatural world inhabiting the pages. Each descriptive sequence makes Banshee an immersive and pulsating read from cover to cover. I found the book harder to put down as the band members began to fall prey to the castle's mysterious forces. I relished the increasing tension in each chapter as I raced to discover who the next victim would be. I recommend this novel to readers seeking a chilling thrill, a sensational journey back into the 1980s, or a story with an engrossing paranormal twist.
