Bayler Daniels: Trouble in the Glades by S.A. Lawrence is about a man whose life is as steady as the land he respects. Bayler Daniels’ life was clean and uncomplicated; he preferred straight talk, lived by the Bible, and honored the delicate balance of the Glades. His peaceful routine is disrupted when, on his way to fish, he notices something out of place and calls Tom to investigate. Reluctantly drawn into matters Bayler believes are none of his business, he soon finds himself entangled in trouble. After Braddock had a run-in with the law, he felt Bayler was responsible for his troubles. What started as a simple grudge turned into a dangerous one. There is more behind Braddock’s actions than meets the eye, and a much larger network is at play. This conflict forces Bayler into a moral struggle as a God-fearing man with firm principles, all while trying to protect his family from looming danger.
Bayler Daniels: Trouble in the Glades by S.A. Lawrence was intriguing. The story caught my attention from the start. The pace was steady, with a lot happening from chapter to chapter. I could not put the book down, not even for a minute. I enjoyed Bayler's specific dialect that changed the story from ordinary to extraordinary. The writing was engaging, and I lost myself in the atmosphere of the Glades. The descriptions of the events were vivid and engaged my imagination. The characters were realistic and relatable. Bayler had unwavering beliefs that were tested. He did not back down but stood up for what was right. The story was excellently written and held my attention throughout. The ending was fitting after everything that had happened in the book.
