Best Buddies Book Club by Jen Lowry is a wonderful children's picture book about the joy of reading, friendship, and overcoming your fears. Ms. Williams was thrilled when her third-grade class was invited to the Best Buddies Book Club, but the students weren't. They were puzzled when she told them that they had received a special invitation to be the best buddy reading partners with students with special needs down the hall. They wondered why they had to read or learn science, study math, or read books out loud to someone else. Why did reading matter anyway? Yet, as the book club was happening that day, they all accepted the challenge with knots in their stomachs. Their teacher promised them it would be fun and a real-life adventure.
