Author Biography

There's a version of Kimberli Edmonds's story that starts with the accomplishments — her success as a finance executive, the Irish pub she co-owns, the platform she built to help others stop letting their past define what's possible, and the books she has written, including Beyond the Lies. That version is true. But it isn't the whole story.

The fuller story starts in Atlanta, in a home where money was always short and uncertainty was often loud. It starts with a little girl who learned to read the room before she believed there was room for her. It includes pain, loss, and experiences that could have convinced her to live small.

But somewhere along the way, Kimberli decided the stories her circumstances were telling her were lies. She became the first in her family to earn a college degree — not because the path was clear, but because she chose to challenge the lie that she wasn't capable. That choice became a pattern. One brave step became another, and over time she built a life that once felt impossible.

That is the heartbeat of her writing and of Choose Forward, the platform through which she helps people break free from the lies that fear, failure, and rejection tell them — and reclaim the truth that none of it defines them.

Kimberli doesn't write from theory. She writes as someone who has had to choose forward when giving up would have made sense — one brave choice at a time.

Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds is a heartfelt guide about breaking free from limiting beliefs formed during your most difficult life challenges. The author uses her own experiences with early trauma, teenage pregnancy, and corporate climbing to explain how we can sometimes get stuck in cycles that shrink our lives. Each chapter is built around a distinct “Story, Truth, Practice” approach, giving us an interactive layout to work with. She teaches readers how to structure a “What Happened/What I Learned/What's True” chart to deal with difficult memories and how to align their goals with their decisions. The book focuses mainly on moving past financial hurdles and learning to set firm boundaries in your everyday relationships. Overall, it is a practical workbook that provides a user-friendly map for anyone trying to take control of their personal growth.

Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds is a self-help guide that stands out by treating self-development like an ongoing practice—not a quick, one-time fix. Edmonds’s writing style is very conversational and honest, making you feel like you are reading an emotional letter from someone who has actually done the work regarding healing and growth, and now wants to help others do the same. I love how she discusses each topic with zero pretension, mixing raw reflection with practical tools you can actually use on any given day of the week. The book is very helpful because it bridges the gap between confronting old emotional hurts and managing real-life situations like your social circles and household finances. It avoids the typical "generic feel-good slogans" found in similar self-help books, instead focusing on building everyday habits that change how you view your own worth. This memoir will deeply benefit college students, anyone trying to rebuild after a major life setback, or people who feel stuck in a career they do not particularly enjoy. Very highly recommended.

Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds is an honest guide about surviving childhood abuse, leaving a bad marriage, and getting through seasons when money is very tight. The author shares her journey of dropping out of high school and slowly working her way up to a high-level corporate accounting job. Each chapter follows a simple pattern: she shares a personal memory, breaks down a specific lie she used to believe, and gives you a real exercise to try. She teaches you how to map out your bills on a spreadsheet she calls a "War Room," keep a running list of your daily wins in an "Evidence File," and break down your past using a simple three-column chart. She also writes about her time volunteering in a women’s prison and dealing with corporate imposter syndrome under a really tough boss. Ultimately, she leaves you with basic starting points to help you change your money habits, say no when you need to, and support the people around you.

Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds is a self-help memoir that changed how I view the connection between my past choices and my current work life. What really touched me the most was how she used practical financial data and corporate tools to sort through deep emotional pain. You just don't see many authors talking about going through military discharge papers to prove to themselves that they aren't the crazy one in a relationship. I loved how honest she was about her career journey, especially her fear of sitting in big executive meetings while secretly worrying people would judge her for being a high school dropout. Her thoughts on the difference between normal guilt and deep shame are very helpful for anyone who tends to get in their own way. Also, seeing how she handled an unplanned home emergency, like replacing all the toilets in her new house without panicking, helps reassure readers that building a financially stable future is very possible. This memoir is a beautifully reflective book that shows how your own survival story can eventually become a guide to help someone else through a dark season. Great read! I recommend everyone, regardless of where they are starting from, to read it.

Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds is a well-written book that gives hope to readers who feel stuck in their past trauma and continue to have negative beliefs about themselves, while also guiding them toward reclaiming their lost identity. Kimberli begins by describing a turning point in her life when she decided to take a breath, gather evidence against the lies she had told herself, and finally walk away from the toxicity in her marriage. She further shares personal stories of inherited lies and false identity that began after she was sexually abused as a child, as well as other events that significantly affected her choices, ideas of love, relationships, and more. However, against all odds, she reclaims her identity, sets boundaries, graduates from college in her 40s, and accomplishes many things that she thought were impossible.

This book was such a huge source of hope and transformation for me, particularly in areas where I feel unseen and live on people's terms at the expense of my happiness. I sincerely commend the author for having the courage to share her story to inspire readers with similar struggles. Kimberli is an exceptionally brilliant writer, as I could feel every bit of emotion as if her story was specifically speaking to me. I loved the reflection and practice section as it made this book more engaging and allowed me time to reflect. The writing is well-paced, organized, and easy to comprehend. Themes featured include self-discovery, healing, growth, hope, and more. I recommend Beyond the Lies by Kimberli Edmonds to nonfiction book lovers and anyone struggling with self-doubt, false identity, and any form of trauma.
