There is definitely more than meets the eye at the Blackthorne Faire. The many characters that populate the faire are nothing compared to the ones who own it, the ones who stay mostly behind the scenes. Brian and Jimmy are at the faire to see Jimmy’s girlfriend and to help Brian forget about the tragedy of a lost love. But there are strange happenings going on at the faire, such as a girl who can play music that encompasses more than notes and another who can predict the future with her cards. There’s something almost too real about this Renaissance faire, but who’s to know for certain?

John Adcox has most assuredly created an amazing book of magic, faeries and more with Blackthorne Faire. I have always loved any story that had to do with these two topics especially and I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing style of this one. The characters really draw you in and seem to leap off the page into real life. Brian, Jimmy, Fiona, Erin and Jessica are great characters that you want to learn more about all the time. They have some interesting times and interesting adventures that you’ll never get tired of reading. I wanted to learn more even after I had finished this book. The adventure throughout had kept me turning pages again and again through the entire day and I didn’t even realize how long I had been reading until the end.

John Adcox's Blackthorne Faire is a mysterious fantasy romance novel. The book is in four sections. Erin plays the harp while her roommate, Jessica, is the fortune teller, Madam Memory. The girls use one of Caitlin's books to perform an enchanting show of Madam Memory's Tarot Cards. Caitlin and Carter offer Erin the opportunity to travel with them as they follow Renaissance Festivals. Meanwhile, Jimmy has convinced the broken-hearted attorney, Brian, to attend the last day of Blackthorne Faire. Jimmy's girlfriend, Fiona, is performing with Jamal in their Rapier Wit show. However, Brian hears music drawing him in. He sees Erin, and they both feel an instant connection. Likewise, there is a presence of something magical in the air. The property's ownership has been called into question, with two interested parties offering more than the market value.

John Adcox built suspense with each part. Every character is well-developed and has a distinct personality. The dialogue had a natural feel and was easy to understand. It was enchanting to watch the love between the couples grow. The riddles and metaphors add to the mystery on every page. I could easily see the perspectives of every member, which allowed me to envision their performances. Adcox filled every page with realistic events that I experienced at the Renaissance Festivals I attended. The vivid details of the fairgrounds and the various attractions brought the events to life. The unpredictable storyline kept me from putting this fantasy story down. Readers who love mysterious sights, magical fortunes, and romance should read Blackthorne Faire.
