Blood on the Mother Road: No Place to Hide is a work of fiction in the mystery, crime, and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Mary Coley. In this second installment from An Oklahoma Mystery series, we find ourselves back with journalist Claire Northcutt as she explores Route 66 via Persimmon, Oklahoma. On her own research quest about the sinister nature of The Mother Road, a mutual connection puts her in touch with a protected witness waiting to testify against a Texas drug ring. As the two women’s worlds collide, both are embroiled in a dangerous criminal world that threatens their lives.

Readers seeking a watertight mystery novel with excellent character development, slick action, and high stakes drama need look no further than this wonderfully exciting tale by author Mary Coley. As a reader, it's always a treat to experience the sensation of being in safe hands with a confident narrator, and Coley delivers this in spades so that you can fully engross yourself in the plot and escape the real world for a good long while. The unique setting of the novel takes us out of the typical big city or small village mystery settings and delivers something more sinister, transient, and exciting where you genuinely can’t predict what will happen next. I also really enjoyed Claire’s progression as a character and her emotional journey when put under such extreme pressure. Overall, I would certainly recommend Blood on the Mother Road: No Place to Hide to mystery and suspense readers everywhere for their next highly addictive read.
