Blue Gold is an interesting look at the romance, intrigue, and culture in ancient Egypt. I have always been fascinated with the culture of that era and region. Ramose was the youngest high priest in Egypt. He spotted a beautiful woman along the Nile clutching her dead infant. He took her into his household as his lover.

This epic adventure is set in Ancient Egypt. The pyramids are a mere 100 years old. There was a famine and people struggled to survive LindseyTownsend weaves multiply threads into a tapestry that demonstrates the way of life in 1560 B.C. In an effort to stick with the authenticity of the era, Townsend has include the sibling incest, female slaves are sexually abused,

I enjoyed the look at the ancient god and goddesses. In Blue Gold they are multidimensional. They squabble like children. Townsend is careful to make her characters flawed. That gives them that special something that breathes life into them.

This is an unusual love story. History works with romance to bring a pleasant read.
