Blue Midnight by Tess Thompson is about second chances and being brave while you are feeling vulnerable. Blythe Heywood thought her world was destroyed when she got divorced from her husband of thirteen years. Her husband cheated on her with a young associate and now she is divorced and a single mother of three little girls. However, when her girls leave to spend three weeks with their father, she has nothing to do but think about the past. Packing to move away for good this time, she finds an old slip with the phone number of her former flame.
Years ago, Finn Lanigan’s kiss had turned her mind and made her body sing. With her cheater of a husband out of her life and three weeks just to herself, she cannot help but wonder what would happen if she gave Finn a chance, a chance that she should have given him when they were younger. Armed with that courage, she goes in search of Finn, to see where her destiny takes her.
Many people already know that I’m a major romance enthusiast, which has its upsides and downsides. I cannot stand a romance novel that is “ordinary” and “same” and I’m glad to say that Blue Midnight is neither “ordinary” nor “same.” First of all, I LOVE the title, it fits perfectly with the theme of the novel! Secondly, I really appreciated Tess Thompson’s characterization. It did not leave me wanting more in any way. She gave me absolutely everything without making the descriptions garish and boring. I loved that her use of words was crisp, concise and very readable. A great romance that is well written and well received. I loved it all, including the cover art! A wonderful love story that you will be silly to miss.
