In Boo-Boo the Shih Tzu by Michelle Blanshei, it’s Boo-Boo’s birthday, and the Shih Tzu is extremely excited. His mom and dad have decorated the house with balloons and streamers in preparation for the birthday party and they send out birthday invitations to all of Boo-Boo’s friends. Boo-Boo wishes for lots of treats but can’t open his presents until his friends are there. Before he knows it, his friends arrive, and the party gets started. What kind of games will Boo-Boo and his friends play? What presents did Boo-Boo get for his birthday? What kind of cake and ice cream does the Shih Tzu like the best? Will his birthday wishes come true?
Boo-Boo the Shih Tzu is an adorable story that will make kids laugh as they read about the birthday party. The excitement and anticipation of the fun of getting together with their friends and family is something any child can relate to. I love how this talented writer focuses on the excitement of pets that sometimes can be overlooked and how important it is to celebrate the milestones and birthdays of our beloved fur babies. The illustrations by Natalia Kravchenko are bright and colorful and will keep kids smiling and laughing as they turn the pages. I recommend Boo-Boo the Shih Tzu to young children who love a fun-filled story that is exciting and fun from beginning to end. I hope that Michelle Blanshei writes more books like this one. I have no doubt this children’s author will become a favorite for kids everywhere.
