Border Slot is a work of thriller fiction in the action, terrorism, and military sub-genres, and was penned by author Jack Lyndon Thomas. Written for adult reading audiences, the work does contain the use of explicit language, graphic violence appropriate to the premise, and some sexual situations. The story centers around Kannon Ballard, who is approached by a fellow veteran with news of a dangerous terror threat from local white supremacists in Montana. As things take a speedy turn for the worse, Kannon finds himself up against impossible odds, and he’ll need to use every bit of his wits and experience to put a stop to Crandle’s machinations before further devastation can occur.
Author Jack Lyndon Thomas has crafted a high octane and exciting page-turner, with a premise that is very apt to contemporary times. The work balances both the big picture of the social and political issues with the smaller, in-depth journey of Kannon very well, delivering a great interweaving that involves readers directly in the story. The plot is excellently paced, delivering tense moments of exposition with a sudden burst of action, as well as some very clever twists and satisfying moments of triumph. The dialogue too is a winner, with Kannon beautifully characterized and delivering some real zingers into the heat of action that give you a sudden lift. Overall, I would highly recommend Border Slot to fans of action-packed thrillers with tough central characters you can admire and root for from cover to cover.
