In Buried Treasure by Patricia Lovell, Cassie and Josh attend a retreat to address emotional tension after a miscarriage and differing views on when to try for another pregnancy. Cassie wants to wait until she completes her studies, while Josh wants to try again immediately. During the retreat, Cassie dreams of an encounter with their lost child's soul, reinforcing her need to follow her path, while Josh has a similar dream, leading to mutual understanding. Stella, another retreat participant, embarks on a spiritual journey where she meets Yakazan, a higher-dimensional version of herself. Through transformative experiences in a sacred space, Stella learns about her spiritual purpose and gains clarity about her identity. This is a story about healing and growth for both Cassie and Stella, and the hope to deepen their connections with themselves and others.

Buried Treasure by Patricia Lovell offers a deeply spiritual exploration of personal maturation and healing through bright and bold transformative experiences. The writing is evocative and encourages thought, pulling us primarily into Stella's journey of self-discovery with descriptions of her encounters in otherworldly landscapes. For me, the depiction of Yakazan is a standout, acting as a guide that helps Stella (and the reader) better understand complicated spiritual concepts with grace and beauty. The metaphysical elements, such as the Trust Garden and sacred crystal spaces, are beautifully worked into the story and provide symbolic depth to Stella’s emotional evolution. Lovell’s use of imagery and the concept of reconnecting with one's soul is a powerful message, bringing with it a look into self-love, forgiveness, and transformation. It's just plain wonderful. Very highly recommended.
