In Burn Everything Then Forget It by Boston Teran, many people are unaware that there are underground teams that work in the shadows for government services. Among them are Bill Castle and Charlie Warsh. Their children, Viola and Bill, are both Puerto Rican, the former adopted, and both mothers are deceased. Bill is still mourning the loss of his mother, who died from poison on the New York subway. The narrative follows their early romance and explains how they are from different backgrounds. Viola is sent to Europe for schooling, but Bill doesn’t even complete his education. To help alleviate his sorrow, Viola advertises in the newspaper for anyone who saw his mother’s murder. This begins a horrific train of events, exposing long-held secrets during the time of the Vietnam War and the student uprisings to welcome in a new and more equal world.

Burn Everything Then Forget It by Boston Teran is set in New York in the 1960s. It can be seen as a parallel to modern America. Viola and Bill are typical of young people keen to change the world to be more equitable, and, as Puerto Ricans, they are aware of a society that supports and promotes white superiority. The slogan America v America – Outcome Uncertain appears at the beginning and end of the book and provides much food for thought. The fathers appeared ill-matched but worked closely together on the dark side of the law. They had bonded as Marines and now have few scruples in daily life. This book will appeal to those readers interested in recent American history, as many scenes of the protests and descriptions of the locality may be familiar, especially to New Yorkers. There are surprises and a few twists, but this book is recommended to be read in a few sessions so as not to lose the total picture.
