Author Biography

Nolia Harp, a former Louisiana native, who now calls Texas home, traded swamps and Mardi Gras for cowboy boots and bluebonnets. When the first-time writer is not mothering, wife-ing, and working, you can find her stressing out about all the dozens of things in between. Her debut novel crosses off one of the many adventures on her bucket list, with the hopes her story will take her readers to a place which makes them forget their troubles for a while... as it did for her.

Cab Ride by Nolia Harp centers around Cora Tinsley, a graduate holding a master’s degree in arts management. Her exceptional intellect, maturity, strong work ethic, and professionalism have bagged her the position as the director of The Pink House Art Gallery in New York. Cora possesses a type A personality and an unwavering determination to be the best. However, there is one aspect of her life that eludes perfection and remains beyond her control—crippling episodes of unexplained pain that have afflicted her for the past decade. Despite her best efforts, the cause of these episodes remains unknown, and finding a solution to stop them proves even more elusive. Cora's life takes a turn when she embarks on a blind date with the son of a renowned actor, which ultimately leads to a profound experience of love.

The author's writing style effectively captures the characters' essence and surroundings, creating a vivid reading experience. It is engaging and evocative, with funny dialogue, which is lighthearted with some Southern sass. The humor, lightheartedness, and mystery regarding CJ's interest in Cora contribute to the story's appeal. The narrative effortlessly combines descriptions, dialogue, and character thoughts, creating a sense of immediacy and drawing the reader into the story. The author's ability to capture the unique personality of all the characters in her words adds depth to their relationship and piques the reader's interest. The character development is well done, which makes readers relate to them and feel the depth of their personalities. For example, the effect of the pain episodes is that Cora's social life and circle of friends have been severely restricted, preventing her from fulfilling a deep and concealed longing for romantic love, and has been displayed well. The book is well-formatted, allowing for a smooth reading experience. The paragraphs are spaced, and chapters are named along with the year, making it easy to follow. Overall, Cab Ride by Nolia Harp is an engaging and enjoyable read. The book is recommended to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted read.

Pikasho Deka

Cab Ride is a romance drama by Nolia Harp. For the last ten years, Cora Tinsley has been tormented by underlying pain and visions for no apparent reason. Now 25 years old, Cora has worked her way up to become the director of the prestigious Pink House art gallery at the West Village in New York City. But her condition has left her without any meaningful social or romantic relationships. When her best friends Perry and Jaycee set her up on a blind date, she ends up meeting her date's father instead, a famous actor named CJ Haskell. Feeling an intense mutual attraction, Cora and CJ struggle to understand their unlikely bond, which may have links to an unconventional relationship decades before. Now CJ's stepson Colson has entered the picture. Who is Cora's true soulmate?

A love story flavored with an unexpected twist, Cab Ride is a must-read for contemporary romance aficionados. Fast-paced and filled with romance, heartbreak, and a tinge of mystery, Nolia Harp's gripping page-turner of a novel keeps you hooked from the start. Using a narrative that switches between multiple timelines, Harp weaves a captivating tale that is full of twists and turns, and you find yourself breezing through the pages in eager anticipation of finding out what's happening next. The characters are well-fleshed-out, and their distinct personalities create some intriguing drama that is delicious to consume. Cora, CJ, and Colson make for a riveting love triangle, but I was even more captivated by Sandi and CJ's unconventional relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will gladly recommend it.
