They head to the fancy dress store to find some fun costumes to wear, but when they find out how much the costumes cost, they refuse. Instead, they find their own costumes and head off to the party. But when they get there, they are surprised at what they find. What do they discover at the party? And what do they do to make it into the Halloween party they were expecting?
Captain Polo and the Halloween Party by Alan J. Hesse is a fun story with some amazing illustrations that help bring it to life. This humorous tale will have kids rolling with laughter. It’s also educational, teaching children the importance of reusing old things instead of spending money on things that will only be used once. We seem to live in a throwaway world now, making it more important than ever for the younger generation to understand sustainability. It also teaches them to use their imaginations and make their Halloween parties fun places to be, as well as a little scary. At the end of the book is a link where kids can download a free game to help them follow Captain Polo on his adventures and learn about climate change and how they can help change things in the future. This is the kind of book that every child should read at home and school, with entertainment and education rolled into one.
