A madcap glimpse of high society, criminal masterminds, and all-round buffoonery awaits readers in Aaron T. Knight's novel, Case Of The Strangled Parrot. Lord and Lady Faversham host a banquet in honor of the new Prime Minister, but their gathering of the well-to-do turns into the scene of a double murder. Winston Smythe is the dead man, and in a tragic twist, a defenseless parrot also meets its demise, serving as a distraction for the horrific act. This shocking murder draws significant attention, and soon a slew of detectives, ranging from an accidental WW1 hero to a pair of amateur sleuths, are on the case. As this bumbling lot of nincompoops investigate the murder most foul, they set off a Keystone Cops style inquiry that reveals a conspiracy beyond their wildest dreams.
Tongue-in-cheek humor, combined with a clever and insidious crime, makes Case of the Strangled Parrot by Aaron T. Knight an entertaining read. The unlikely plot revolves around the mystery behind a murder that may conceal something more sinister, along with the quirky individuals attempting to solve the case. An underlying theme of "expect the unexpected" works well within the narrative, as there are plenty of amusing surprises throughout the story. Character development is top-notch, featuring eccentric individuals who are not what they appear to be at first glance. The brisk pace and easy-to-read writing style keep the story engaging. While this book may not satisfy readers seeking a serious whodunit, it is perfect for anyone who appreciates a whimsical and humorous murder mystery.
