I remember well the emotions that surged through me as I held our first, second, and third child in my arms. Marla Taviano uses humor and deep insight in her book Changing Your World One Diaper At A Time. She draws on her experiences and uses logic to assist the reader through the first year of their child’s life. She begins when the child is still just a thought, a wish, a desire and continues through the pregnancy into the first year of life.

This book is aptly named. A child changes your world for the better. After carrying a child for nine months and giving birth, you never see things in quite the same light. I had to smile when Ms. Taviano discussed the dream world we live in before a child is born. We have these fantasies of what life will be like. We never seem to consider the loss of sleep or the dirty diapers. Instead, we daydream about the tiny helpless bundle that fits perfectly in our arms and the tiny hands that wrap themselves around our fingers. In reality, we are the ones wrapped around a finger.

Changing Your World One Diaper At A Time is beautifully written. It brought back precious memories. My son and daughter-in-law have a new baby. I see a reversal of roles in many homes. Many times the mother works days and the father works nights. Many times, the father is the primary care giver. Perhaps a suggestion for another book would be one that takes that in consideration. The humor and honesty added to the charisma of this delightful book. Mothers will enjoy and learn much from this book.
