Charlie at the Pom Springs Hotel: A "Tail" of Love, Friendship, and Dog Adoption by Lara Eurdolian King is an absolutely lovely “tail” of love between people and their pets. It is original as the pet to be adopted, Charlie, our protagonist, is showing hotel guests around and hoping to find his forever family. He has a lot of friends, who are all different types of animals. What is also interesting is that this book is based on a true story and Charlie does exist. It is based on Charlie King, a senior Pomeranian rescued from the lobby of a hotel through their pet adoption program. On most pages, we read sayings such as “Welcome!” and “Adopt me!” and “Home.” These relate to the main message of this book: everyone needs to feel welcome and needs a home, both human beings and animals.
In Charlie at the Pom Springs Hotel by Lara Eurdolian King, Charlie is an adorable and kind-hearted Pomeranian who helps people. Indeed, he enjoys introducing them to everyone at the hotel. This tale is one of support, generosity, friendship, and above all differences. It shows how vital it is to accept everyone, as we are all different and unique, and that uniqueness is what we should treasure. This is something I have taught my son as well as something I teach every year to my students who discover (through international projects) their talents. And having different ones is important for the projects to work. I endorse the messages of this amazing illustrated book for both children and adults. Thank you, Lara, for this gem of a book. This moving story will engage young readers, students, parents, and teachers alike!
