Author Biography

Ann Borrmann lives in Canada with her husband, Mark. She has worked with young children in various capacities over the past three decades and is herself the mother of four grown children. She now enjoys being a grandmother to several adorable grandchildren. So, if she is not napping, you may find her indulging in her favourite pastime of writing children's stories with a good cup of tea. She hopes that her books will entertain the imagination of many little readers and story lovers.

Chester the (almost) Pirate is a fun and engaging children’s book by Ann P. Borrmann with illustrations by Tracee Guzman. Chester is a young boy who dreams of becoming a pirate and is thrilled to attend a school that will teach him how to become one. Chester and his first mate Roger, an energetic octopus, have good intentions, but the pair ends up creating some tumultuous and amusing situations as they progress through the school. The Captain is not amused by their antics. Chester and Roger must learn many things to become successful pirates, from swashbuckling to how to clean the ship. Chester and his first mate are determined to become pirates, so they persist courageously in facing challenges and in dealing with the Captain, who can be cranky at times. Playful and detailed illustrations enhance this lively story.

Chester the (Almost) Pirate by Ann P. Borrmann shares an uplifting message about facing trials and the joy of accomplishing a goal. Young readers will be captivated by the hilarious and entertaining situations that Chester and Roger find themselves in. Children will have fun following these adventures as there are many laugh-out-loud moments throughout this delightful story. All the characters are highly likable, and children will be rooting for Chester and Roger to become pirates. Despite facing mishaps and criticism, they maintain a positive attitude and never give up. Parents, teachers, and caregivers will enjoy this uplifting story that encourages self-confidence and resilience. This is a highly recommended read.
