Chicken Livers and Artichokes is a children's picture book written by Pina Bird with illustrations by Tetiana Kopytova. It follows a beautiful girl named Pina on her first day at a new school - Whitney Elementary School. Fearing that she might not fit in and will be made fun of, Pina asks her mother to change her name to Josie on her school registration form. However, her mother does not do this and hopes Pina will learn to embrace her uniqueness and identity. Despite this, Pina still feels different, from her clothes to her lunch, and worries that she will be looked down upon. But, as luck would have it, Pina meets a new friend who is fascinated by her and makes her feel welcome. Join Pina as she overcomes critics, makes new friends, and learns to celebrate her uniqueness through different foods.

Chicken Livers and Artichokes is a heartwarming story that addresses the issues of acceptance and fitting in. It also provides children with valuable lessons about the importance of embracing differences and the beauty of cultural diversity. It is an excellent resource for parents who want to teach their children about empathy and inclusivity. Pina Bird does a good job of conveying the messages in a way that children can appreciate and understand. Her inclusion of Pina's lunch recipe at the end is an excellent way to involve children and encourage them to participate in the story beyond just reading it. The colorful illustrations of Pina and her classmates, along with the delicious foods, are sure to capture the attention of young readers. I highly recommend sharing this book with your children to teach them about embracing differences and being considerate toward others.
