In Christmas Bear by Mary June Rincon, children get to meet Christmas Bear who is a Nursing Assistant. It is Christmas Day and Christmas Bear is going to decorate the halls at the Nursing Home. She has a lot of friends there who need her help at the Nursing Home. Christmas Bear has a daily routine. Today she starts the Christmas decorations by setting the tables with pretty Christmas table cloths. She sings Christmas songs and takes her friends to activities to sew some stockings for Christmas. Come to the Nursing Home and walk with Christmas Bear, and watch her bringing cheer and joy to the patients in the Nursing Home on Christmas Day.
The story is simple and will take young readers into the routine of Christmas Bear on Christmas Day. The illustrations are colorful and they capture the author’s words beautifully and the Christmas ambiance is tangible to readers. It is a delightful book to gift children for Christmas and the essence and spirit of Christmas is felt through the acts of the Christmas Bear. It is a cute storybook that can be used during the Christmas season for read aloud sessions in classrooms and libraries. Parents can read it out to their children, especially during the Christmas season to make them understand how Christmas Day can be celebrated. Just like the Christmas Bear who cheers up her friends in the Nursing Home, this story will bring a smile to the faces of young readers.
