Christopher Dragon Shopping with Friends is the second book in Mary Kagan Draper's children's series, The Tales of Christopher Dragon. This book is illustrated by Patti Brassard Jefferson. Christopher Dragon goes with some of his friends to a shopping mall. They first go to a clothing store to get him some blue jeans and other clothing. The clerk at the store is nervous at first when he sees Christopher, but he's soon quite comfortable with the friendly dragon. They arrange for special clothing to be made for Christopher that is large enough to fit his dragon body and has an opening for his tail. After that, Christopher buys a kite for them to fly at the park. Kite-flying is a fun thing to do unless your kite gets caught in a tree, but Christopher just flies up and rescues the kite when it happens.
Mary Kagan Draper's children's book, Christopher Dragon Shopping with Friends: The Tales of Christopher Dragon Book 2 is imaginative and entertaining. Christopher is also such a great role model for children. They learn that being different is okay, and that everyone has unique skills and gifts that make them special. Christopher can't buy his clothes ready-made, but he can fly and get his kite out of the trees if it gets stuck. Patti Brassard Jefferson's illustrations are bold, with bright colors and a fluid comic book style that will tempt artistic children to try their own hands at drawing Christopher and his friends. This is a great book for kids to read on their own or with an adult, and everyone will have a grand time reading about this very personable dragon. Mary Kagan Draper's children's book, Christopher Dragon Shopping with Friends: The Tales of Christopher Dragon Book 2 is highly recommended.
