Clucky's Week is a children's book written by Laura Stewart and illustrated by Pam Casey. It follows Clucky, who is having an unfortunate week: every time she lays an egg, someone collects it. If it's not the farmer, it's his wife, and if not her, it's their son or their daughter. She keeps laying an egg in different places, and every time, she is sure that it won't be taken, only to be disappointed again. Finally, she lays an egg and decides to sit on it. Days and weeks go by, and she keeps sitting on it. Three weeks later, on a Sunday, she realizes that there is something other than an egg in her nest now. Young readers are asked to guess what is in Clucky's nest.

I really enjoyed how Clucky's adventures seemed like antics by a comical mother hen: after all her frustration, she keeps persisting, even when she (Clucky) feels disappointed, she keeps thinking up new plans. Laura Stewart's writing is witty, and Pam Casey's illustrations do the humorous side of the story justice, with both elements blending very well. The personification of the farm animals is very well done. Clucky's expressions when her plans are foiled by the farmer and his family are very funny. This is the perfect book for parents and their children: the humor is good, clean fun, and it's not often that you will find both youngsters and parents sharing in the laughter. Clucky's Week is an all-around winner for me.
