Co-Piloting: Luck, Leadership, and Learning That It's All About Others: Our Story by Jim Haslam and John Driver is the story of a remarkable man who in spite of being accomplished and successful in business, politics, and the community always found time to invest in relationships, being there for the people in these relationships, helping others, and giving back to society. Jim Haslam writes his story as that of luck, both in business and personal life, and his experiences of faith, hope, failure, happiness, love, loss, and a host of other emotions. He speaks about General Robert R. Neyland who was one of the most popular football coaches of his time and one of his mentors who played a key role in his life. He also shares Neyland's great maxims and speaks about how they influenced his thinking and his life too.

Jim Haslam's journey is inspirational - from becoming the football team captain at the University of Tennessee, serving in the military, starting a small oil company in 1958 with one gas station, and from there going on to build one of the largest private companies in the country. Jim Haslam's humility, character, integrity, and views on education, faith, charity, sports, and politics are all tangible to readers in this memoir. His story is not about how a business should be run but also about giving back and how life should be lived. The memoir is quite vocal about Jim Haslam's success and him as a person and gives readers good insights about the man, the life he lived, and his success story. The memoir also showcases Jim Haslam's principles and the teachings he learned from his football coach Robert R. Neyland, which are motivating and will encourage readers to use them to make positive changes in their lives.
