Color Friends by Samantha Callen is a children’s educational picture book about colors. The color wheel can be confusing for young minds, but this book opens the door to a world of color. Kids will learn about primary and secondary colors and read some fun stories about how two colors blend to make another color. Join the primary colors on an exciting adventure to learn what happens when they mix, sometimes accidentally, and make new friends.

The illustrations, also by author Samantha Callen, are bright and cheerful and will help kids see the colors, making it easier for them to identify various colors in the world around them. This is an educational book, but it’s a fun story, too, as the different primary colors have little adventures that help them make new color friends. Kids will love the fun aspect of learning their colors and then trying to see them in their clothes, toys, and the outside world. At the end of the book is a quick primer on remembering the primary colors and what secondary colors they make when different ones are mixed. Color Friends also has an underlying message though, and that’s if you mix with others, you can easily make new friends, a valuable lesson for children to learn. This is a thoroughly enjoyable story, written in simple language and with plenty of bright colors. This is one of the best educational kids' books I’ve read and I highly recommend it for schools and homes alike.
