Cosmic Chaos by CM Shelton is a science fiction adventure for kids. This is the kind of science fiction novel I grew up reading. Robert A. Heinlein was my first love among writers as a boy and this novel is as good as many of his lighter hearted works. One of Mr. Heinlein’s greatest novels takes place on the moon too, but CM Shelton shows us life on the moon from a boy’s perspective, and the boy is a likable young misfit to boot. I like the main character, Logan. He sometimes makes dumb moves, but he’s a boy! I cut him some slack. Unfortunately, his father, the robots in charge of his life, and the authorities on the moon are not so kind.
Let me tell you why I like Cosmic Chaos. The writing is great. It perfectly fits the genre and the targeted age. I also like the fact that most of it takes place on the moon. Logan is a smart, likable kid who misses his mom back on Earth. Trust me, Maggie the robot housekeeper is not a suitable substitute. Maggie is the source of a lot of Logan’s problems. Life on the moon is not easy for kids and Logan and his father want to get back to Earth. It looks impossible until... Buy Cosmic Chaos. If you like great characters and good adventures, you won’t regret reading it yourself. But the best thing you can do is give it to a smart young person. You might change their world.
