Everything had been under control while Arshes Megane, the hybrid daughter of Catriona Redfletching and Daelen StormTiger, was on her extended time trip into the past, until she witnessed her mother’s death. She is left devastated and distracted, a moment that allows the Guardians she was holding captive to breach the walls of her time bubble. However, with the breach comes an attack by the Never people, beings unmade from history, whom Arshes, the Guardians, and Mandalee, who has arrived with Daelen from the past, learn are minions of the void creature. But it only gets worse. It turns out the void creature has the whole of Tempestria in a chokehold and is hellbent on unravelling its entire reality. Arshes can save Tempestria, but the path she must take is not only illegal but also demands betrayal and immense sacrifices. Find out how it all goes down in Crossing Lines: The Salvation of Tempestria Book 8 by Gary Stringer.
Yet again, Gary Stringer brings to life the world of Tempestria in Crossing Lines, pitting its heroes against all odds with invincible threats. It has been a long time coming, and finally, the story has caught up with Arshes’ timeline. Her introduction immediately acquainted me with the stakes she faced from her sole mission to the current dilemma. Stringer maintains, and even ups the ante, with the depth of magic, science, and history here. Every ritual and scientific concept is expounded on in detail. Alongside the intricate storyline featuring multiple timelines, this is not a read for the faint-hearted. It moves like a complex machine, demanding your complete attention as every detail is a buildup to the past, present, or future of the plot. The deeper she goes into her current quest to stop the void creature, the more revelations she stumbles upon, which are going to help her in her ultimate mission. I highly recommend reading the previous books to fully enjoy this read.
