Our story begins in the fairy realm where at great sacrifice to themselves, the council members join together to banish the powerful and evil Brigara from the realm of Fionia. However, Brigara manages to enter the realm of humans where she waited 300 gams ploting her revenge. When Jake and his family moved to Middlefield he expected a normal quiet, boring life; he was wrong. Ms. Bridget the science teacher assigned the students to groups and sent them to Vasona Park to gather bits of elements. Jake, Conner, Seneca, and Shayna were gathering moss when without knowing it, they walked through a portal and entered the realm of Fionia. Unfortunately, the portal closed and they could not go back the way they came. Both adventure and danger lay ahead of them. There were odd creatures in the fairy realm and the four teens are forced to do the biding of an evil old Druid.

C. Toni Graham is the author of Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals. I was quickly caught up in this amazing tale. The author has created remarkable characters like Celestia Swan of Fionia, the guardian spirit of Gaelons Lake. One of my favorites was Keene Ardara, the Cipher Fairy who lived with very strange chairs. I was not familiar with this author and I’m very pleased to say she is now at the top of my fantasy author list. While this book is appropriate for middle school, both young and old will enjoy journeying alongside Jake, Seneca, Shayna and Conner as they search for a way home.

Due to her practice in dark magic, Brigara, a druid of the High Council, is captured and forever banished by the council itself from their realm. However, the council plan is flawed when Brigara successfully casts a spell that will guarantee her return for revenge. Jake, Seneca, Shayna and Conner: these four teenagers are transported into another realm filled with magic and inhabited by fairies - the Otherworld. With their hidden talents, they must find a way to stop Brigara or the lives of their loved ones and their magical world friends will be lost forever.

The writing style is excellent and satisfying for a fantasy fan like me. I wasn't fond of the modern reference “tennis balls” though, when the setting was still in the fantasy realm - modern reference such as this, in my opinion, only causes unnecessary disturbance and undermines the quality of writing. Nevertheless, this is only a small flaw and I was still able to enjoy the story very much. The plot was unpredictable, which made the story more fun to read. All the characters are well-developed and are given strong motivations for their actions. The partnership of the four unlikely saviors has the necessary depth. Written by C. Toni Graham, “Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals” is a fast-paced, gripping magical adventure, and young as well as adult readers will find it enjoyable. I definitely look forward to the second installment of this exciting saga.

I woke up this morning and figured I would start a few pages of Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals over coffee. Hours later I finished the book immediately went back on Amazon to see what else I could buy from C Toni Graham.

I'm struggling to find the words to describe why I enjoyed the book. It was a book about fantasy and magic, but it was done very differently than other books of that genre. The character development was well done. The good characters had flaws and the bad characters had redeeming qualities. And, most importantly, I never found myself in skimming mode. And, of course, the ultimate positive review of any book is to immediately look for more by that author (which I did). If you are a fan of fantasy fiction I think you will really enjoy this book.

I bought this book for my tween age kids and ended up reading it before they did! I loved it! I have read a lot of fantasy literature over the years, so I am a fan of the genre. This book kept me guessing with the plot twists and turns. I love the characters, and enjoyed traveling with them on this adventure. I think the story is current and very readable for any tween or teen (and adults too, as in my case!). I can't wait for the next book!

This book is sooooooo good! It's like a little bit of C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe mixed with the Lord of the Rings, Twilight (but thankfully No Vampires!!) Fantasy, Mystery and Adventure series all rolled into one! The plot definitely keeps you guessing, when you think it's one thing another key piece is revealed and changes your mind. My favorite scenes were with Keene Ardara and the Elder Druid. I couldn't put it down and now I probably have to buy a new book because my friend has lent it to her friend and no one wants to give it back! Seriously! It's that good!

Amazon Review

Crossroad and the Himalayan Crystals is a fun and exciting adventure about four teenagers who find themselves transported into an alternative realm of magic and fairies called the Otherworld. They find themselves in the middle of a druid power struggle that affects both the families they left behind and their new friends. Much to their surprise, they find they have hidden talents and skills that complement one another. The four teens are Jake, an average guy trying to find a way to be recognized, Seneca, a quiet loner who resembles a goth tinkerbell, Shayna, a beautiful and persuasive cheerleader, and Conner, a fun-loving athlete. Even though they were not friends before, they develop close friendships during the course of their shared adventure. This first book in the trilogy focuses on their finding their way home while dealing with the challenges and dangers of living in a magical world, one full of both good and evil. They are given magical Himalayan Crystals and must decipher how each can use them to overcome the many obstacles they face. The book is fast paced, holds the reader's attention, and is a fun read for kids of all ages. Although there is plenty of danger and adventure, this book does not contain gratuitous violent scenes that might be too much for young readers.

Butterflies And Books

Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals is a wonderfully entertaining children’s / young-adult adventure akin to the C S Lewis books I used to love reading as a child. There is a lot of magic and mysticism, but the author doesn’t trade off on these elements at the expense of a captivating plot nor lacks for very capable writing and dialogue. The four teenage protagonists are bold, well written and larger than life, just as you would want and expect from a book of this type, and the whole thing is crafted very well so all of the pieces pull together delightfully. I loved it and look forward to more from C. Toni Graham.

Being transported to an alternative world is about the most exciting thing you can read about as a child, and as an adult myself I have to say the feeling hasn’t diminished that much with age. The children in the book aren’t friends beforehand, being from different social groups but soon gel together to overcome obstacles as the action gets underway. I thought of it as Breakfast Club meets Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, which in no way diminishes how well the book and plot are written. Very exciting reading and definitely one I’ll be gifting.

I purchased this book when the author was doing a book signing at the Hillsdale B & N. I put it away because I was busy reading a few other books. I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner! It is an amazing story with very relatable characters. My 16 year old daughter is reading it now and plans to blog about it. I love stories like this that take you on an adventure and you can't wait until the next book comes out. I say if you like fantasy and stories like Harry Potter, then read Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals.

I was lucky to have received a signed copy of this book from the Goodreads First Reads 'giveaway' :-) Thank you C.Toni Graham

Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals was a great read and I was a bit sad to have finished it so quick, so now I'm interested to read any other books by this author.

The story kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to know what was going to happen next. The landscape and characters were described in such a way, it was a joy to visualize and inspiring for me being an artist, it made me want to draw. All the characters had been well thought out and had specific roles that I imagine many readers will identify with especial those of the same age as the main characters.

The book was full of mystery and action and easy to read. I particularly liked the book having lots of short chapters as it meant I could read the story in stages, where a natural break in the story occurred. I wished more books did this.

I think this book will appeal to people who like magical adventures but as one of the characters was also an Indigo Child and the subject of auras being attacked I'm sure that it will be great for young people who are aware of New Age themes.

A lovely book that I would recommend. Beautiful cover too!
