Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses by Marlon Bermudez is a non-fiction self-help guide that serves as a launchpad for organizations that may be unaware of how severely a cyber attack can impact their business, and what should be done to stand the best chance of circumventing one. Detailed over nine incredibly comprehensive chapters, Bermudez combines vast expertise and experience as he covers everything from the birth and basic framework of The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the legalities and responsibilities of adherence by all organizations to understanding what makes an organization susceptible to hacking and data breach, and greatly reducing a risk that can destroy a business.

Marlon Bermudez has compiled the single most exhaustive guide on cybercrime that I've read...and I've read dozens. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach to protecting an organization's information and assets, but what sets Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses apart from the rest of a crowded pack is Bermudez's ability to break down aspects that tend to be incredibly confusing to a layperson and turn them into a virtual encyclopedia of relatable information. There is a point of view that I found to be particularly interesting, and that is Bermudez's stance that cybersecurity breaches affect organizations and its clients who put their trust in an organization that didn't take their protection seriously. Very highly recommended.

This means that a small distraction or carelessness can lead to unimaginable loss to individuals and organizations. This book creates a strong awareness about cybercrimes and the diverse forms they take, explains how criminals take control of personal and company information in order to orchestrate crimes, explains how to detect situations that can expose both individuals and organizations, and steps to take to stay protected from cybercrime.

This is an informative book that business owners and stakeholders need to read and the author speaks with a lot of authority, proposing ways and tools that businesses from small to mid-size can use to protect themselves. For beginners interested in learning about cybersecurity, this book introduces how to identify threats, protect business entities, detect and monitor processes, respond to incidents, and plan recovery. In a digital age where cybercriminals continue to raise threats, cybersecurity expert Marlon Bermudez encourages small and medium-size businesses to collectively embrace the importance of cybersecurity and adapt its dynamics in the digital landscape. Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses shows the cost and frequency of data breaches, and he offers steps in cybersecurity that must be taken with due diligence and care. For beginners interested in learning about cybersecurity framework, this book introduces the implementation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to identify threats, protect business entities, detect and monitor processes, respond to incidents, and plan recovery. Cybersecurity terms are carefully defined to suit the levels and experiences of readers.

It is not only the large corporations that are susceptible to cybersecurity attacks, but many small and medium-sized businesses remain complacent about it. Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses gives solid proof that cybercriminals find great benefit in targeting small and midsize businesses because most of them do not have any concrete policies in dealing with such threats. For hackers, any information is valuable regardless of the size of the entity they target. Mr. Bermudez stresses the importance of not only training employees in cybersecurity awareness but of implementing a concrete security program to keep companies safe from any breaches. If you have ever experienced phishing emails, wire transfer fraud, ransomware attacks, and compromised online accounts, these are surefire signs that you are a target. A great resource for anyone concerned with protecting the presence of businesses online, this book is a formidable shield for any small, midsize, and even large businesses in fighting cybersecurity attacks.

Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses is a work of non-fiction that delves into the fields of business, technology, and security, and was penned by author Marlon Bermudez. Planning ahead for potential risks and imminent disasters is something that businesses of all sizes must consider, and the world of data containment and data protection is one in which the field of criminality changes regularly. In this comprehensive guidebook, Bermudez takes readers through important steps in cybersecurity that can offer massive improvements to the systems of small and mid-sized businesses, and prevent them from having the kind of breaches and attacks which can see them go under in a way they can never recover from.

Author Marlon Bermudez clearly knows his field exceedingly well and writes with the kind of narrative confidence that is sure to inspire business professionals at every level within a company to sit up and take notice of this essential advice. As a newcomer to the world of cybersecurity and indeed cybercrime myself, I found the terminology was well explained and accessible, no matter where your initial knowledge standpoint is. I thought it was marvelous that there were templates provided as a clear guide on how to build profiles and risk assessment against these kinds of crimes, and the formatting and layout of the book really helped to make these as clear as possible to follow. The five central points of the NIST framework are an invaluable asset to any company’s security, and I would highly recommend Cybersecurity for Small and Midsize Businesses to any professional who wants a clear and thorough explanation for their future success.
