Dancing With The Yumawalli is an exciting adventure book written by C.C. Alick which was inspired by true events. This unique story takes place in the Caribbean through the eyes of a teenager. Godfrey Soulages is a young man on a quest to find the legendary Yumawalli while stepping into the early years of manhood. The story takes place where the palm trees sway in the warm breeze, exotic fruits hang on every limb, and white sandy beaches are filled with vessels on the water. Rich in Grenada culture, Godfrey’s journey becomes soulful and filled with magic and mysticism. He encounters many obstacles along the way, including the mysterious death of his best friend, and he does what he needs to just to survive. It is in this Caribbean adventure where Godfrey comes face to face with a leper and a unique artist with no arms, and finds his long lost grandmother along his journey. What they teach Godfrey is invaluable and keeps him grounded as a human being while searching for the illusive Yumawalli.

C.C. Alick is truly a mastermind in writing this unique and mind stimulating novel for teenagers and adults. We are able to step into Godfrey’s spirit, see through his eyes and join him on a thrilling adventure like no other. C.C. Alick does not leave anything out of this novel, which is rich in culture, mysticism, island prophecy, and racism. The plot flows smoothly from one twist to the next turn, and the story is very easy to comprehend. I loved the immense sensations of using my imagination as if I were on the Island with Godfrey and could vividly capture the emotions all around me. I could smell the warm breeze, feel the bright sun on my face, and sense the danger all around me. This novel is truly a must read for any teenager and adult who love a good mystery entwined with supernatural and culture. What are the Yumawalli? Are they real people or mystical spirit beings? You will find out in this marvelous novel which tantalizes the imagination and takes over all of your senses.
